Srinagar, Oct 23: People’s Conference (PC) chairman Sajad Lone has criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s visit to New Delhi, where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
In a post on “X,” Lone stated, “This gentleman is desperate and bending over backward to meet the Lords in Delhi.” He accused Abdullah of hypocrisy, recalling how he previously campaigned against those he now seeks to engage with.
The PC chief said the push for statehood is merely an excuse to gain favour from the central government.
This visit comes after a cabinet meeting where a resolution was passed to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, a long-standing demand since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
