Srinagar, May, 09: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar Saturday chaired a meeting of party functionaries and office bearers at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, where various organisational matters and issues concerning public welfare were discussed in detail.

During the meeting, the participants emphasised the need for the Government of India to respect the democratic mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by fulfilling its promise of restoring full-fledged statehood to the beleaguered region.

The leaders said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have repeatedly expressed their aspirations through democratic means and deserve the restoration of their constitutional and democratic rights.

Addressing the meeting, Sagar said that the restoration of statehood is not merely a political demand but a legitimate and constitutional right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He urged the Government of India to honour its commitments made on the floor of Parliament and take immediate steps towards restoring full statehood.
