Jammu, Jan 15: National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary and former minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Wednesday called upon students to contribute positively to nation-building and actively strengthen the bonds of unity and amity.
Addressing students at an event at NAGROTA organised by Arun Pal Working President National Conference Students Union (NCSU), Tayub Rashid, Mussarat Malik and Sakib Kitchloo, Sadhotra said the students have a huge responsibility to preserve the idea of India and the distinct ethos of Jammu and Kashmir while working collectively for a strong, progressive nation.
He underscored the need for students to remain vigilant against divisive forces that aim to disrupt the social fabric by dividing communities along religious or communal lines. “The students must stand as a bulwark against such elements and ensure that the idea of India, founded on secularism and inclusivity, remains intact,” he added.
The National Conference leader emphasised the crucial role students can play in shaping the nation’s future while safeguarding its diverse and inclusive fabric. “Students are the torchbearers of progress and have to shoulder their responsibilities towards the society,” he stressed.
To play their healthy role in building a harmonious society, Sadhotra advised students to prioritise their studies, as education is key to shaping responsible citizens. “Education is not just a pathway to personal success but also a means to contribute meaningfully to society. By excelling academically, students can prepare themselves to lead the nation toward a brighter future,” he said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of National Conference to providing a conducive academic environment under the “visionary” leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and assured that the present government is dedicated to fostering an atmosphere where students can thrive and realize their full potential.
Responding to the longstanding demand for a Degree College Building in Nagrota, Sadhotra said the issue would be taken up with the Minister of the concerned department.
On the occasion, hundreds of students joined the National Conference Students Union, a party statement issued here said. Welcoming the new entrants, Sadhotra reiterated the commitment of his party to nurturing the potential of young minds as the future architects of the Nation and Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent who joined include Deep Kumar Sharma, Chanchal Sharma, Jatin, Ashfaq Ahmed, Abhishek Sharma, Furkan Ali, Vikram Singh, Danish Choudhary and Jatinder Pal Singh.
