Srinagar, Jan 07: Continuing with its unwavering commitment to spread awareness against illicit trafficking and drug abuse, the South Asia Centre for Peace and Peoples Empowerment (SACPPE) initiated a signature campaign in the city center Lal Chowk, here on Sunday, drawing a huge support for the cause.

The event, which was inaugurated by Muhammad Lateef Lone, newly appointed interim president of Traders Association Lal Chowk, witnessed a fervent gathering of individuals committed to combating the challenges of drug abuse and trafficking.
Lone, who kick-started the campaign by adding his signature to the cause, stressed for a united fight against illicit activities affecting communities. The event’s atmosphere resonated with enthusiasm as people from diverse backgrounds, particularly the youth, actively engaged in signing their commitment to a drug-free and safe society.
“Moral education in educational institutions, engaging youth in sports and other activities can keep them away from drugs. Society as a whole has to join hands to put an end to the epidemic of drugs,” he added.
The signature banners, strategically placed in the bustling square, became a focal point for locals and tourists alike, expressing solidarity in the fight against drug addiction. The air was filled with enthusiasm as signatures adorned the petition, symbolizing a collective commitment to building a drug-free community.
Amidst the campaign, the SACPPE representatives engaged with the crowd, emphasizing the importance of awareness, education, and rehabilitation. The event became a platform for open discussions and amplifying the message through social media and traditional channels.
The SACPPE’s strategic approach included awareness programs, educational materials, and interactive sessions to empower participants with knowledge about the detrimental impacts of illicit trafficking and drug abuse.
As the signatures accumulated, the campaign echoed a resounding call for action, urging policymakers and community leaders to prioritize initiatives that combat the pervasive issues of illicit trafficking and drug abuse.
The success of the signature campaign not only reflected the community’s determination to combat drug abuse but also laid the foundation for ongoing initiatives and programs. SACPPE’s efforts continued to make a lasting impact, creating a ripple effect that aimed to bring about positive change and a healthier future for the people of Lal Chowk and beyond.
SACPPE is a government registered, non-profit and apolitical organisation which is working for the cause of all round development of the society and promotion of education, research and learning.
