Srinagar, Nov 25: Four-day rugby championship concludes here at Srinagar on Friday.It was earlier thrown open on Nov 21.
Mohammad Iqbal, Manager Indoor Sports Complex, Polo Ground inaugurated 14 UT Level Rugby 7’s Championship 2022 as the chief guest of the event at Polo Ground Srinagar on 21st of Nov.
“While inaugurating the championship, adding that the physical exercises is linked to keep away many more diseases, reduces stress in life and hence I feel delighted to witness the maximum participation of our boys and girls in Rugby sports Day by Day, said Chief Coach J&K Rugby Association.”
The tournament was organised by J&K Rugby Association sponsored by J&K Sports Council for All Categories of Male and Female viz sub-junior, junior and senior ofJammu and Kashmir. Irfan Aziz as organising secretary of the tournament while welcoming chief guest and officials said that the Council under the leadership of Nuzhat Gul is contributing a lot in development of games and sports in both the regions of J&K.
The General Secretary Mr. Tariq Ahmad Zargar while sharing his views as special guest encouraged the participants for showcasing their sports through such tournaments.
The Result of the DAY 1: In Sub-Junior Girls the Gold took by Jammu,Silver by Srinagarand Bronze byBudgam, In Junior Girls the Jammu Clinched the Gold, silver by Srinagar and Bronze Pulwama and in the Senior Gold Clinched by Srinagar, Silver by Jammu and Bronze by Baramulla.
The Result of Day 2: Toddlers (-12), Gold by Taqwa School Budgam, Silver Budgam, Bronze by Jammu. while in Sub-Junior, Gold Clinched by Kupwara, Silver by Pulwama and Bronze by Srinagar
The Result of Day 3: Under 17 Boys Gold by Srinagar, silver by Bandipora, and Bronze by Kupwara
On the Closing Ceremony the Chief Guest Mr. Faisal Ali Dar (Padma Shree Awardee) distributed Prizes among the winners and expressed his views and passed the compliment for the J&K Rugby and for the official for their dedication and continue efforts to the Game.
On the Last Day of the Event the overall trophy was lifted by Srinagar with the highest Gold in the Medal Tally while Kupwara took the Runners Trophy
The Result of Day 4: Senior Men, Gold by Royal Rugby Club, Silver by Srinagar and Bronze shared between Kupwara and Bandipora
