Vadodara, Oct 28: After scoring a blitzkrieg 93 runs against Gujarat on the other day, Rubia Syed once again cracked power-packed half century and along with stylish Chitra Singh Jamwal and skipper Jasia Akhter guided Jammu and Kashmir to a resounding victory by 7 wickets after bowlers restricted formidable Tamil Nadu to a modest total in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at Kotambi Cricket Stadium B, Vadodara on Monday.
Chasing a target of 126 runs, J&K rode on an extraordinary batting display by Rubia Syed to reach the target in 17.3 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus winning the match by 7 wickets.
Rubia scored 78 off just 58 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. In simple words she was at her murderous best and butchered the rival bowlers with utmost timing and fluid grace. Chitra and Jasia contributed 16 runs each.
S Anusha, Akshara and Vamsi claimed one wicket each for Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat, Tamil Nadu scored 125 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process.
Arshi Choudhary top scored with 32 off 27 balls, studded with 5 boundaries, while skipper SB Keerthana and S Anusha contributed 27 and 21 runs to the total respectively. A Eloksi and M Sabrina also chipped in with 14 and 13 runs respectively.
Bismah Hassan, Ananaya Sharma and Rubia Syed claimed one wicket each for J&K.
The sea change in J&K team’s performance this season vindicates the JKCA Administrators stand of hiring former international cricketer Latika Kumari as the Head Coach of J&K’s Senior Women’s team.
Meanwhile, Sub Committee Members of JKCA have congratulated the players and the support staff for this superb victory.
The Coaches headed by Ms Latika Kumari and the Selectors headed by Ms Surabhi Dadheechi deserve appreciation for this performance.
