Srinagar, Mar 24: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday that the government has allocated Rs 208 lakh for the development of the sacred shrines of Shri Mata Sukrala Devi and Shri Mata Bala Sundri under the Capex Budget for the financial year 2025-26.
The statement was made in response to a question raised by MLA Billawar Satish Kumar Sharma, who sought details on the steps being taken for the holistic development of these shrines and the provision of basic amenities for the pilgrims.
In his reply, CM Abdullah, who also holds the portfolio of the Tourism Department, outlined several initiatives aimed at the comprehensive development of these shrines. “For the financial year 2024-25, under the Capex Budget, 15 works have been undertaken with an approved outlay of Rs 482.13 lakh. For 2025-26, the department has proposed additional works amounting to Rs 208 lakh to improve infrastructure and amenities at these revered shrines,” the Chief Minister said.
CM Abdullah further mentioned that the Tourism Department has already initiated the process of transferring the management of the shrines to a dedicated Shrine Board to ensure their efficient and smooth operation.
