Srinagar, Oct 23: In the final of Red Premier League (RPL) 2024, saw Royal Goodwill Cricket Club secure a comfortable 47-run win over Hamdan Hurricanes Cricket Club at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
Batting first, Royal Goodwill CC set a target of 144/9 in their 20 overs, with steady contributions from their batting lineup. In response, Hamdan Hurricanes CC struggled throughout their innings and were all out for just 97 runs, falling well short of the target.
Royal Goodwill’s disciplined bowling and fielding made sure Hamdan never got close, wrapping up the match in a one-sided contest.
Ishtiyak Rasool, the standout player of the tournament, was named Man of the Series after accumulating 300 runs at a strike rate of 150 and taking 14 wickets over the course of the competition.
His performances were key to Royal Goodwill CC’s success throughout the tournament.
The tournament also showcased exceptional individual performances. Hilal Ahmad was the top run-scorer with 317 runs, boasting an average of 63 and a blistering strike rate of 207. Wasim Raza dominated with the ball, taking 15 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 4.77.
The final was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, with Honourable Satish Sharma, Minister of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, ARI and Trainings, serving as the Guest of Honour.
In his address, he praised the tournament for promoting youth engagement and bringing top-quality cricket to the region.
Special guests included Sarmad Hafeez, IAS, Administrative Secretary Youth Services and Sports, and Ms. Nuzhat Gull, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, both of whom acknowledged the RPL’s positive impact on the local sports landscape and its potential to shape future cricket events in the region.
