Anantnag, Oct 30: Anantnag, Oct 30: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh, on Monday, said that peace was returning to the valley, however, it was a source of discomfort for the neighbouring country. He said that the police are investigating the recent incidents of terror and violence and that the perpetrators of such heinous acts will be soon brought to justice. DGP was speaking during the inauguration of Shaheed DySP Himayun Muzzammil, Model Police Station Mattan in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district in presence of slain officer’s father, retired IGP Ghulam Hassan Bhat.
DGP said that the newly constructed police station building has been dedicated in honor of a fallen police officer. This officer achieved martyrdom during an encounter at Gadol area of Kokernag on September 13th. “It was an endeavor to establish something in his name that will be remembered, and we are pleased that the police station now bears his name”, he said.
Regarding the Pulwama terror incident, he said, “I believe the investigation of this incident is being conducted under the guidance of ADGP Kashmir, with the ground team, DIG south Kashmir, and others involved. Details of this incident will be made available soon.”
“If a poor labourer, who travels from a distant place to earn a livelihood, is shot, I believe neither God, nor people, nor the police will forgive such an act. I trust that the police will soon track the culprits involved in this crime and bring them to justice,” DGP said.
He said, for over 30 years, we have suffered the loss of our loved ones in this prolonged conflict. Only those who have experienced such pain and suffering can truly understand the agony. If neighbours witness such incidents, they may feel a sense of accomplishment, thinking they have succeeded in their mission.
“The recent incident in Srinagar should be seen in the same light. Whenever peace and stability begin to take root, and people return to normalcy, it causes discomfort to the neighbours. Their aims of bloodshed and terror over the past 30 years are no longer achieving success, which pains them,” he said.
He said, these incidents arise from the same discomfort felt by neighbours when they witness normalcy returning in J&K. They are reluctant to see peace and prosperity return here. The police are making every effort to prevent such incidents. The individuals involved in the Srinagar and Pulwama incidents will be brought to justice soon.
He added, the police have been working tirelessly throughout the night. They have acquired substantial leads regarding the Srinagar attack and aim to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
