Anantnag May 23: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary & former JKPCC president Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday reiterated that the ongoing general election is the best opportunity to “get rid of misrule, coercion and anti-people policies unleashed” by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while reaffirming Congress Party’s commitment to ensure Nayay (justice) to every section living in the country.
Mir was addressing a largely attended election rally at Omoh Verinag in south Kashmir where he made a passionate appeal to electorates of Anantnag-Rajouri to support INDIA alliance Candidate Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi wholeheartedly and ensure his victory with a thumping majority.
On the occasion, the Congress leader said, “The fake narratives and propaganda unleashed by the NDA against INDIA Alliance will not deter us from securing victory in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, which is set to happen on June 4. There will be the next government of the INDIA alliance at the Centre which will ensure respite to people from BJP’s anti-people and wrong policies.”
He said the BJP leaders, including the Prime Minister, were making “anti-minority” election speeches. “Such a mindset is the reflection of the BJP’s desperation and defeat, which they realised after the third phase of the elections. The anti-minority outburst shall neither change the reality nor it can change the mood of the people, who are well aware of BJP’s falsehood and communal politics and have decided to vote INDIA Alliance to power,” he said.
Mir added, “PM and his other colleagues attempted to create a communal atmosphere for the votes, but it was rejected by all Indians unequivocally, who want change in the country to safeguard the Constitution, which happens to the next target of NDA. Congress Party will fulfill all the promises made to the people and will put an end to the discrimination, hatred, open loot of public money and various other anti-people measures on the part of the NDA government.”
Stating that restoration of statehood and democratic rights in J&K are among the top priorities of the Congress Party, G A Mir assured that “the next INDIA alliance government at the Centre will immediately fulfill these urgent demands.”
Addressing the gathering, Mian Altaf said that the INDIA alliance in the country is fighting for the rights of the people which are under assault since the NDA assumed power at the Centre. “The ongoing Lok Sabha Elections has provided the public with an opportunity to throw it (NDA) out of power for failing them on all fronts,” he said.
The NC leader said, “The NDA government at the Centre snatched our democratic rights, our jobs, and land by forcibly enacting different laws after the reorganisation of the full-fledged princely state.”
He appealed to the people to support the INDIA alliance by ensuring his victory from the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha segment with an overwhelming majority.
