Bandipora, Nov 27: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sonawari, Hilal Akbar Lone on Wednesday said the government is committed to ensuring that the people’s voices are heard and all genuine issues are resolved promptly. He urged officers to prioritise the needs of the public and ensure timely action on all pending matters.
To engage directly with the public and address their concerns, MLA Lone along with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri presided over a Mega Public Darbar at Nowgam, Sumbal. The event provided a platform for local residents to voice their grievances and seek resolutions to pressing issues affecting their daily lives.
The Public Darbar was attended by several senior officials, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal; Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora; CPO; GM DIC Bandipora; CMO; CEO; public representatives, and a large gathering of the general public.
Addressing the gathering, MLA said that the primary objective of the Public Darbar was to assess the availability of essential services, evaluate ongoing development works, and address the concerns of the public.
During the event, the locals raised several key issues, including the widening of the Singpora-Gansthan-Nowgam road, the establishment of a J&K Bank branch in Nowgam, staff shortages in local health centres, concerns over the flood channel, and issues related to education, power supply, water supply schemes, and infrastructure development.
Responding to the issues raised by the public, the DC assured the public that all genuine concerns would be addressed in a time-bound manner, with efforts being made to resolve issues effectively.
MLA commended the District Administration for organizing the Public Darbar and urged officers to continue performing their duties with dedication and zeal. He specifically highlighted the importance of resolving the issues surrounding the Wullar Lake area and emphasized the urgent need for the installation and repair of transformers by the PDD.
Earlier, the MLA and Deputy Commissioner visited S.K. Bala, interacted with the public, and listened to their issues. They assured all possible support to the residents of S.K. Bala and pledged to address their genuine concerns.
