Kulgam, March 26: According to locals, several villages in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district are experiencing unscheduled power outages, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan
Residents of Watoo, Asnoor, and Aharbal have complained about frequent power outages from the last week.
Similar reports of power outages were received from the Yaripora, Pahloo and Shahoo Sachen also claimed that electricity disappears at Sehri. Furthermore, Banimullah Malwan villagers have stated that they are also experiencing power outages.
Munazar Mushtaq, a local of Aharbal said, they are facing power woes from some time now which is quite disturbing. The power supply is frequently getting disrupted. Authorities should check it and resolve the issue.
District Development Council (DDC) member Manzgam, Chowdhary Jameela told Rising Kashmir that residents of Manzgam and Aharbal villages have been experiencing unscheduled power outages for the past week, which is causing them distress.
“Electricity woes during Ramadan are very unfortunate; I have brought this matter to the attention of concerned officers, and I am hopeful that it will be resolved soon,” she said.
According to a PDD official, the power demand has increased dramatically in recent days especially at Sehri and Ifar times, resulting in faults and at times, unscheduled cuts.
“Frequent cuts occur as a result of extreme load shedding. There will be no unscheduled power outages if customers use electricity judiciously,” he said.
“The load on the Aharbal feeder has reached 497 amps, which it has never reached before; we ask that people use electricity wisely so that there are no problems in serving them”, he added.
