Ganderbal, Mar 01: Locals residing along the Main Market Kullan to Gagangeer Sonamarg route in Ganderbal district have voiced serious concerns about the road’s deplorable conditions, which they claim have persisted for over a year.
The residents and transporters in the area have demanded the immediate attention of authorities to address their genuine grievances. They said the road is significant as it connects numerous villages.
Residents said they face immense hardships due to the dilapidated road. Despite repeated attempts, the administration has ignored our concerns, they alleged.
A delegation of drivers highlighted the significant challenges they face due to the road’s lack of maintenance. They cite numerous ditches and potholes along the route, exacerbating safety risks, especially during inclement weather.
They said both passenger and tourist vehicles have suffered extensive damage, leading drivers to avoid the road altogether. “This avoidance, however, imposes additional burdens on passengers relying on this route for transportation,” they said.
Rsidents appeal to authorities particularly Border Roads Organization (BRO) responsible for the maintenance of the road to prioritize repairs and resurfacing efforts urgently. They emphasize the need to address the road’s condition to prevent further problems for the community.
