Srinagar, Dec 31: In a latest development pertaining to dismantling terror network, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized a residential house and a vehicle, identified as falling within the scope of proceeds linked to terrorism in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
A Police spokesperson stated that as part of their ongoing efforts to crack down on those harboring terrorists and providing logistical support, the police have attached a residential house and a Swift Car under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P)) in Baramulla.
“In the course of investigating FIR No. 104/2023 under sections 7/25 I.A Act, 120-B IPC, 13,16,18,23 UA(P) Act at Police Station Uri, a Swift Car with registration number CH01AD-9588 was seized. This vehicle was employed in the transportation of illegal arms and ammunition for terrorist activities,” he said.
The official said consequently, under the authority vested by Section 25 of UA(P) Act, DySP SIU Baramulla, CIO of the case, attached the said property (Swift Car) deemed as proceeds of terrorism, following approval from the competent authority,” the spokesperson explained.
Similarly, in connection with the investigation of FIR No. 46/2023 under sections 307 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act, and Sections 16,18,19,20, and 38 of UA(P) Act at Police Station Kreeri, a residential house belonging to Farooq Ahmad Bhat, son of Late Ghulam Mohammad, residing at Wanigam Payeen, was attached.
“The house was identified as being used for harboring terrorists. Therefore, exercising the powers under Section 25 of UA(P) Act, Dr. Khalid Ashraf, DySP Ops Kreeri, In-charge Officer of the case, attached the said residential house recognized as proceeds of terrorism, following approval from the competent authority,” he added.
