Zanskar, July 14: The Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Sonam Dorjay, on Friday constituted a rescue team to trace the missing person from Skyagam village. The team headed by Sub Inspector, Nawang Stanzin, comprised police personnel, representatives of revenue, the information department and villagers of Skyagam.
An official told Rising Kashmir that the rescue team engaged a rafting boat to trace the man on the Stodh River from Skyagam. During the search, the team found a dead body near Kyalay opposite Atting and Dokhang and recovered the body, he said.
The person was identified as Tashi Motup, 54, son of Nawang Punchok, a resident of Skyagam, who went missing on July 08, 2023, in between Bakartse and Skyagam.
The rescue team shifted the dead body to the Community Health Centre, Padum to conduct a post-mortem, after which it was handed over to the relatives. SDM Zanskar has assured to provide all logistic support to the family of the deceased.
