Two foreign tourists were found dead and nineteen others were rescued after an avalanche hit the Affarwat peak near Ghad Khudd at the popular ski resort of Gulmarg in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir, according to officials.
A police official said that a large-scale rescue operation was immediately launched after the incident was reported.
“19 foreign nationals have been rescued successfully. Dead Bodies of 2 foreign nationals recovered were shifted to hospital for medico legal procedures,” Baramulla police said.
The rescue operation is ongoing to see if there are any other individuals trapped.
