Jammu, SEPT 07: Dr. Arvind Karwani, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K, chaired a meeting today to review arrangements for migrant voters ahead of the Assembly Elections-2024.
Attended by Deepak Kumar, Assistant Returning Officer (M) Jammu, Booth Level Officers, and election teams, the meeting focused on ensuring all Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) at designated Special Polling Stations in Jammu. These include permanent ramps, drinking water, and toilet facilities, adhering to Election Commission of India norms.
Dr. Karwani directed Booth Level Officers to engage with migrant voters, particularly in non-camp areas of Jammu, to facilitate their voting process.
The Election Commission of India has announced a scheme allowing Kashmiri Migrants to vote in person at Special Polling Stations or by postal ballots for Assembly Constituencies in the Kashmir Province. Nineteen Special Polling Stations have been set up in Jammu and one in Udhampur, mapped to camps and zones to ensure accessibility.
Booth Level Officers are tasked with reaching out to voters listed in their electoral roll extracts and ensuring their availability for SVEEP activities and queries.
