JAMMU, Apr15: Emphasising that since revocation of Article 370, J&K has been witnessing all-round progress in a peaceful environment, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday asserted that the Modi government’s decision to scrap Article 370 has fully integrated J&K with the rest of the country, fostering development and growth.
Addressing an election rally in support of Union Minister Jitendra Singh at Basohli in Kathua district, Singh highlighted the fulfillment of all promises made by the BJP like abrogation of Article 370, construction of the Ram temple and implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Singh also criticised regional parties like the National Conference (NC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Congress for exploiting Article 370 for political gains. Singh took a dig at PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, who had previously warned of dire consequences if Article 370 was revoked, stating that the Indian tricolour now flutters proudly across every corner of J&K. He emphasized that instead of bloodshed, peace and prosperity now prevail in the region.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the “Ram Rajya” has started taking roots in the country and nobody can stop it in becoming a reality. Singh also mocked Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi of the Congress, attributing their visit to Kashmir’s Gulmarg to the newfound peace following the abrogation of Article 370.
Taking a dig at Mehboba’s statement who had once said, ‘KhoonkiNadiyanbehJayengi,’ aur ‘YahanTirangaUthanewala koi NahinMilega’ if Article 370 is abrogated.
“I want to tell Mehbooba that Tiranga (tricolor) is now unfurled in each and every corner of J&K after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 05 2019,” Rajnath said.
Referring to another remark that there would be a bloodbath on the roads of Kashmir, he pointed out that streams of milk and water are flowing in Jammu and Kashmir, showing the significant development and progress made since the abrogation of the Article 370 in August 2019. “Instead of bloodbath (KhoonkiNadiyan), now stream of milk and water are flowing in J&K,” he added.
“Modi has returned things with interest to Jammu and Kashmir, which is now moving rapidly on the path of development and progress,” Singh said.
He assured citizens that the BJP remains dedicated to fulfilling its pledges, including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the next five years. He also referred to the banning of triple talaq and said “whether we form the government or not, attack on the dignity and honour of the women is not acceptable to us”.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh futherstated that India under Prime Minister NarendraModi’s leadership has shown to the world that it has the power to hit its targets within and across the border in the aftermath of Uri and Pulwama terror attacks.
The terrorists attacked an army camp in the border town of Uri in September 2016, resulting in the killing of 19 soldiers. A fortnight later, the Indian Army carried out a surgical strike across the border and destroyed launch pads for terrorists.
He said, “Earlier India was considered as a soft state. India has neither attacked any country nor occupied any foreign land which is its character.”
“But when Uri and Pulwama happened, India gave a strong message that we will not touch anyone but if touched by someone we will not leave them,” he added.
“We have the capability and power to hit (our targets) anywhere within and across our borders. The power of India increased in the world (after the surgical strikes),” he said.
Kathua district is going to parliamentary polls in the first phase on April 19.
As far as the NarendraModi government is concerned, Singh said not only India but the world acknowledges that India is moving ahead to become the third largest economy in the world and its image has also enhanced so much that the world listens carefully to what “we are saying unlike in the past when nobody was taking us seriously”.
Singh concluded by assuring the public that the BJP’s political endeavors are aimed at serving the nation’s interests and bridging the trust deficit between politicians and the people.
