Srinagar, July 24: A meeting of the National Conference’s ‘War Against Drug Abuse’ (WADA) committee was held on Monday at the party headquarters here under the chairmanship of senior leader Abdul Rahim Rather.
The three working groups constituted earlier on the subject, submitted their reports which were discussed threadbare in the meeting, the party said in a statement, adding that the committee also heard the views and the experiences of a prominent expert who is currently working in the same field.
The meeting was attended by Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri, Imran Nabi Dar, Showkat Mir, Syed Tauqeer, Shafqat Watali and Dr Mohammad Shafi. The committee will again meet on July 26 which is expected to be attended by JKNC Vice President Omar Abdullah, the statement said.
The 11-member WADA committee headed by Abdul Rahim Rather is mandated to delve into various dimensions of the rising menace of drug abuse in J&K and devise an effective plan of action to tackle it.
