Jammu, Jan 20: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit has termed the alleged incident of gang rape of a 14-year-old Dalit girl in Kathua district as a disgusting and shameful incident and has demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action.
In a statement issued here, the party’s J&K chief Manish Sahni said such a heinous crime is a symbol of gruesome violence against the weakest section of society and it cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
Sahni accused the police of ignoring the victim’s family and condemned the alleged police action against the protesters who were pleading for justice. He demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and a hearing in a fast-track court.
“The police officers who delayed and showed negligence in the investigation were immediately suspended and action was demanded against them,” the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said, adding that he along with his team will visit the victim’s family on Tuesday.
