Jammu, Nov 05: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri on Sunday expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the “monumental” decision to extend free ration facilities to 80 crore beneficiary families across India for the next five years.
In a historic announcement made by Prime Minister Modi in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, he reassured the nation that the welfare of the impoverished remains a top priority for his government. The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, a crucial lifeline for millions during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic, will continue to provide essential food grains under the public distribution system.
Raman Suri emphasized the significance of this extended initiative, particularly in regions like Jammu and Kashmir which faced the dual challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as terrorism. The provision of free ration for those in need is nothing short of a beacon of hope and sustenance for the affected communities, he said in a statement.
Quoting PM Modi, Suri said, “During COVID-19, the biggest concern of the poor was what they would feed their children. Then, I decided that I would not let any poor sleep hungry, hence the BJP government started the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.” This could come only from a visionary statesman who cares for his people and country, he added.
The BJP leader also acknowledged the “tireless efforts” of the government in making this initiative a reality, recognizing that this extension would positively impact the lives of millions, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry.
