Jammu, Dec 23: The mysterious deaths continue in Rajouri as a woman died today taking the death toll to nine.
However, officials said that the woman, who died today, had no symptoms which the earlier deceased had.
It may be mentioned that Razim Akhter (35 years) died today at Rajouri. Her two sons and a daughter had died earlier.
“Prima facie, the symptoms of woman’s death are not the same as were witnessed in the other deceased,” official said. The investigation is on to ascertain the actual cause of the woman’s death, they said.
It may be mentioned that nine people have so far died in Badhaal village of Kotranka in Rajouri district due to unknown reasons, including 7 children.
The government has already constituted an expert team including experts of GMC-Jammu and GMC-Rajouri to find out the exact cause of mysterious deaths in Rajouri.
The expert team has also been called from National Institute of Virology Pune, PGI Chandigarh and NCDC from Delhi, which has been investigating all the aspects into the deaths in Rajouri, whether it is due to some viral outbreak or due to some other reasons.
It may be mentioned that Ashfaq, who was admitted in GMC-Jammu, was referred to PGI Chandigarh a few days back, but he died on the way.
The expert teams have screened all the 1800 villagers and have sent samples for testing outside J&K and in various labs of J&K as well.
“Some samples of the villagers for testing have been sent outside J&K, while some samples have been undergoing various tests in different labs of J&K to ascertain the actual cause of mysterious deaths in Rajouri,” Dr Harjeet Rai informed Rising Kashmir.
The results of the tests are expected soon, he said.
