Rajouri Court Complex Theft: 2 accused arrested, stolen property recovered

Srinagar, Apr 08: After three days, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Rajouri district claimed to have solved a big burglary case that happened at the district court complex’s Malkhana (seizure room)of the district court complex and two accused involved  in the crime were arrested and recovered stolen items worth crores. 
 
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, Amritpal Singh that during the intervening night of April 3rd and 4th, 2023, a theft incident occurred within the Malkhana of Court Complex Rajouri, during which various items were stolen .
“In this regard case FIR No. 143/2023, under Section 457/380 IPC was registered at Police Station Rajouri. Subsequent to this, special teams were constituted who analysed CCTV footage at various locations along with technical evidence,” he said.
 
SSP Singh said that building upon this, few suspects were rounded up and the accused were identified as Mohd Showket S/o Mir Moh, Caste- Gujjar, R/o KhadiKhalmara, Teh- Poonch and Mohd Taj S/o Mohd Aslam R/O Hayyatpur, Manjakote who confessed their involvement in the case. 
 
“On the disclosure of Mohd Showket S/O Mir, Police team recovered the stolen property, which included four packets of heroine like substance weighing approx 04kgs (valued in crores), one lakh cash in Fake India Currency Notes (FICN) and amobile phone ,” he said.
SSP Rajouri said further investigation in the case is going on to unearth involvement of the accused in other theft cases in the district.
Earlier during the  initial phase,  police analysed the crime scene with the assistance of the FSL team. 
 “Police was also analysing the technical evidence related to the scene of crime.  Moreover, Police also rounded up various suspects for questioning,” he said.
SSP Rajouri had also placed under suspension Guard I/C and other officials for dereliction of duties.
