Srinagar, Mar 25: Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated on Saturday that the Kashmir valley’s rail network would be linked to the rest of the country by January next year, and that special ‘Vande Bharat’ trains are being designed for the Union Territory.
Addressing the press conference at the Srinagar railway station in the Nowgam area, the Minister said the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project is making significant progress and that it would be connected to the rest of the nation by January next year.
“The budget allocation for USBRL was about Rs 800 crore per year before 2014, which has been increased to Rs 6,000 crore in the year 2022-23 adding that it is 65% more than the average Annual Budget allocation during 2009-14.

“The highway connectivity along the railway line is good. I was told there is good connectivity from Qazigund to Baramulla. In case there is no road connectivity, we will took those areas into the consideration,” he said.
