After a historic victory in the Delhi assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tarun Chugh on Thursday stated that Punjab will soon be free from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

BJP leader Tarun Chugh said, “The people of Delhi have defeated the lies, deceit, and hypocrisy of AAP-Da (reference to AAP). Now Punjab is also moving on the same path and will be free from AAP-Da,” Chugh told ANI.

The BJP secured a landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly election results, which were declared on February 8. The BJP won a two-thirds majority, while the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered major setbacks, witnessing a drastic reduction in its numbers in the 70-member assembly.

The party is yet to announce its chief ministerial candidate to lead the Delhi assembly, as it emerged victorious in the national capital. The last BJP government in Delhi was from 1993 to 1998.

The BJP won 48 seats in a historic mandate, marking its return to power in Delhi after 27 years. Several AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, lost in their strongholds, while Atishi managed to retain her seat.

The Congress, which was hoping for a revival, once again failed to win a single seat. The party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years from 1998, recorded its third consecutive zero in the assembly polls.

Earlier, BJP national spokesperson RP Singh alleged that all was not well in the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led state, where there are protests against Kejriwal, especially after he lost the recent Delhi Assembly election.

Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Tuesday commented on Arvind Kejriwal’s meeting with the party MLAs and said that calling a meeting shortly after the elections only showed that the party would break soon.

“The results were declared on February 8, and the movement has already started. Calling a meeting so soon shows that they will break soon. There will be mid-term polls in Punjab. When a party loses, there is a discussion within the state; other states are not called. They are worried that what happened in Delhi may be repeated in Punjab,” Randhawa told ANI. (ANI)
