Srinagar, Feb 9: Yawar Reshi, a 20-year-old athlete from Pulwama district of South Kashmir, has earned widespread fame after completing a remarkable 100-kilometer solo run along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Sunday. His run, aimed at motivating the youth of Jammu and Kashmir towards sports and physical fitness, has become a symbol of determination and inspiration.

Starting from Qazigund in Kulgam district at 8 am, Yawar covered the challenging 100-kilometre stretch, reaching his finishing point at Panthachowk, on the outskirts of Srinagar, by 4:30 pm. This extraordinary feat, completed alone, has impressed many, including locals and sports enthusiasts alike.

Yawar, an undergraduate student of social sciences at Government Degree College Pulwama, is passionate about sports and aspires to make a mark on national and international athletic platforms. He shared that his goal is not just to promote fitness but to instil the sporting spirit in young people. “I want to show youngsters the importance of sports in maintaining good health and encourage them to be active contributors to nation-building,” he said.

Coming from a humble background as the son of a local baker, Yawar is determined to pursue his academic studies while also striving to become a professional athlete. He regularly participates in local sports events and dreams of representing his country on a global scale.

Yawar’s dedication is supported by his family, who take great pride in his achievements. His mother expressed immense happiness, saying, “I am proud that he completed the run successfully. He stays away from smoking, drugs, and all the bad influences, and I always believe in his potential.”
