Srinagar, March 19: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India has awarded the National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certification to PHC Wuyan in Pulwama district.

“I congratulate you and your team for taking up one public health facility of Jammu & Kashmir for Quality Certification under NQAS Program. The facilities underwent External Assessment by the empanelled NQAS external assessors,” said an official letter addressed to the Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah.

The letter said that the certified health facility should strive to work on recommended areas of improvements and submit the action plan to the State Quality Assurance Unit.

It said the State Quality Assurance unit is expected to verify the improvement in the surveillance audits and submit the status to the Certification Unit NHSRC along with the surveillance reports.

The hospital underwent external assessment between 29-Jan-2024 to 30-Jan- 2024 in all six departments and these met all criteria following which it got 94 percent overall score.

They had assessed the hospital’s services and satisfaction levels based on various parameters, including available services, patient rights, inputs, support services, clinical services, infection control, quality management, and outcomes.

Officials said the certification was accorded in recognition of the high standards of quality and performance maintained by the hospitals. They said under NHM efforts are being made to strengthen the health care delivery system to the utmost satisfaction of the general public.

Only those hospitals meeting the stringent standards receive the Union Health Ministry’s quality certification. Hospitals get NQAS certification from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for upholding high-quality standards at the institution.

Officials of DHSK said PHC Wuyan has set a new benchmark for excellence in healthcare services across the 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Director of Health Services Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rathar congratulated the dedicated team comprising the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Pulwama, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pampore, and the diligent staff of PHC Wuyan for their exemplary performance.

He said their commitment and tireless efforts have not only elevated PHC Wuyan to unprecedented heights but also brought immense pride and recognition to healthcare delivery.

PHC Wuyan’s resounding success serves as an example and an inspiration for healthcare institutions in the UT.
