Kulgam, Jan 30: Kulgam Police on Thursday claimed to to have attached a property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Kulgam village under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
According to a statement from Kulgam Police, as part of their stringent action against drug peddlers, they have attached an under-construction house on land Shamilat (4) bearing survey No. 220.
“The property is linked to a notorious drug peddler named Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, son of late Ghulam Ahmad Ganie, resident of Gadihama village, under section 68-F (2) of the NDPS Act 1985,” Police said.
The statement said that the property was identified as illegally acquired during the investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam Police. It was prima facie acquired from the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner.
The police said that the drug peddler is involved in Case FIR number 184/2020 and in Case FIR number 83/2022 at Police Station Kulgam.
This action, as per the police, reaffirms their commitment to combating the drug menace. Local people in the area have praised the Police’s initiative regarding the attachment of immoveable property, which was raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddler.
