Jammu and Kashmir Police confiscated the properties of a notorious drug smuggler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic (PIT) in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) in the Bishnah area of Jammu, police said on Monday.

“The said drug smuggler is a habitual, repeated offender and several NDPS cases have been registered against him in the past and has been recently detained under PIT NDPS,” as per an official statement.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu district continuing its action against drug peddlers today on June 3 freezed/confiscated the properties of notorious drug smuggler (Kingpin), Chirag Attri alias Chetan, resident of Chak Jaralan Tehsil Bishnah, Jammu under the(NDPS) Act as a part of a drive against drug peddlers under Operation SANJEEVANI,” the statement said.

The action was taken under sections 68-E, F of the NDPS Act of 1985 and is linked with different cases of the Act registered against the above-mentioned notorious drug peddler, it said.

“The properties were identified as illegally acquired properties during the investigation conducted by the Police. The properties were prima facie acquired from the proceeds of illicit trafficking in NDPS by the drug peddler,” added the statement.

Presently, the said notorious drug peddler is detained under PIT NDPS Act issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. (ANI)
