Srinagar, Sept 09: In a significant political development, several prominent social activists and political leaders from various parties joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including DDC Darhal Mohd Iqbal Malik, DDC Thanamandi Abdul Qayoom Mir and Advocate Ahsan Mirza.
The event took place during a workers’ meeting in Shapur where Behrot Mohd Iqbal Malik, BJP’s candidate for the Thanamandi constituency addressed the gathering stating that the BJP is poised to form a majority government in Jammu & Kashmir with the support of the people.
He emphasized that voters in the upcoming assembly elections will vote under one flag, the Tricolor and one constitution marking a significant departure from the past. Malik criticized the National Conference and Congress for their attempts to revoke reservations for Gujjar Pahari, Bakarwal, and OBC communities assuring the public that the BJP will protect these reservations. He also highlighted BJP’s Maa Samman Yojana offering ₹18,000 annually to the eldest woman in households, and free LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala Yojana.
DDC Thanamandi Abdul Qayoom Mir echoed Malik’s sentiments emphasizing the unprecedented strength of the BJP in the region. He remarked that the upcoming elections will be historic as, for the first time Jammu & Kashmir will vote under one flag and one constitution.
