Baramulla, Sep 26: The authorities at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla on Monday ordered a probe into the death of an infant at the hospital and constituted a committee to investigate the matter.
Earlier, a family staged a protest at GMC Baramulla, alleging medical negligence by the medicos at the hospital
The family said that they took the 6 months old baby to the hospital for the treatment on Sunday morning after certain health issues.
“After check up, the doctors said that the baby is completely alright and told us to leave. Later that evening, our child was showing some signs of medical issues and we took him to the hospital again upon which we were asked to conduct CBC and UBGS,” the protesting family said.
The father of the infant said that the doctors stated that the baby had an infection and was given an antibiotic.
“After the health condition of the child deteriorated, we took him again to the hospital Monday morning. The baby was administered Sefraxzone 1 gm injection. However, after 2 minutes, the child died,” he said.
The protesting family termed the death as negligence by the authorities and demanded strict action against the involved medicos.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent GMC Baramulla, Dr Javid Iqbal said that an enquiry team of senior medic and paramedic staff has been constituted in this regard to ascertain the facts.
He said that after the report is submitted, whosoever found involved will be dealt strictly as per the law.
“I assure the family and other people that a fair probe will be done in this regard and anyone found guilty will be dealt with as per the law,” he added.
