Baramulla, Nov 30: Days after the unfortunate demise of a woman post-delivery at GMC Baramulla, the district administration announced the formation of a District Audit Committee to investigate allegations of medical staff negligence.
The committee, headed by ADC Sopore, is tasked with probing the circumstances leading to the death of Ms. Dilshada.
The District Audit Committee is mandated to submit its comprehensive report to the District Magistrate of Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish, within a stipulated period of 15 days.
The unfortunate death of Ms. Dilshada has prompted a swift response from local authorities, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of the events surrounding the incident.
An official said that the District Administration aims to provide clarity on any potential medical staff negligence and ensure that corrective measures are implemented as deemed necessary.
The family members and relatives of the deceased lady await the findings of the District Audit Committee, trusting that the investigation will shed light on the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
On Wednesday, family members of deceased Dilshada Akthar (32) assembled outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Baramulla to register their protest against GMC Baramulla.
They shouted slogans against the hospital administration and doctors and demanded justice.
The protesting family and relatives of the deceased woman held the hospital authorities responsible for the death of their daughter.
Earlier, the authorities at Govt. Medical College Baramulla also announced a comprehensive investigation into the untimely demise of a 34-year-old female patient admitted to Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla on November 27, 2023.
A healthcare official at GMC Baramulla said that Mrs. Dilshada, admitted as a case of GZPILS(SCS) with POG 38 weeks in labor, underwent a Lower Segment Cesarean Section (LSCS) on the same day at around 10:35 AM.
“Despite the medical team’s efforts to provide the best possible care during her stay at the hospital, Mrs. Dilshada passed away,” he said.
Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, said that upon receiving news of the unfortunate incident, the Principal of GMC Baramulla took immediate action to initiate a thorough investigation.
“A committee of seasoned professionals is being constituted to examine the case, and their findings will be made public as soon as the investigations conclude,” Dr. Parvaiz said.
In adherence to the commitment to transparency and accountability, the Head of the Department of Gynaecology at GMC Baramulla has been directed to submit a comprehensive incident report within one day.
