Bandipora, Apr 24: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Monday said that Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) have played an important role in empowering people in rural areas, promoting inclusive development and improving the delivery of public services.
He said the celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day by the District Administration provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions of Panchayati Raj institutions to rural development and to reaffirm our commitment to strengthening these institutions further.
The District Administration Bandipora on Monday celebrated National Panchayati Raj Day at Hajin to commemorate the establishment of Panchayati Raj institutions as a system of local self-government in rural areas, providing a voice for people in rural communities to participate in the democratic process.
The programme was presided by DC Bandipora and attended by Nodal Officer Coordination M Ashraf Hakak, ACP Bandipora Muzaffar Ahmad, senior officers and PRIs. The DC also interacted with PRIs to discuss various developmental plans and strategies to implement various Government programmes and schemes on the grassroots level.
