Prioritise ‘Health for All’ with effective services: LG Sinha

Jammu, Mar 19: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a comprehensive review meeting of the Health and Medical Education Department, in the presence of senior officials and Principles of Government Medical Colleges. Heads of Departments also actively participated in the session.
During the meeting, Lt Governor Sinha emphasised the imperative goal of ‘Health for All’, urging officials and stakeholders to ensure that healthcare services are not only efficient and effective but also equitable. He scrutinized the allocation of funds across various schemes and monitored the progress of new Government Medical Colleges and other essential health infrastructure projects within the Union Territory.
Directing officials to conduct an in-depth analysis of patient facilities in hospitals and health centres, Lt Governor Sinha emphasised the need for strategising to enhance the functionality of healthcare facilities further. He particularly stressed the optimal utilisation of medical equipment in hospitals and urged for the prompt implementation of the three-Tier faculty structure.
Furthermore, Lt Governor Sinha underscored the importance of increasing the utilization of AB-PMJDY – SEHAT cards in government-run hospitals, along with the streamlining of medicine procurement and online appointment systems. The progress of the Cancer Institute in Jammu was also discussed, with assurance that essential equipment procurement has been completed, aiming for full operationalization in the coming months.
The meeting also addressed the monitoring of J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited and Drug de-addiction centers, with dedicated measures outlined to combat diseases such as Tuberculosis (TB) and AIDS.
In addition, Lt Governor Sinha reviewed the human resources in hospitals, Para Medical & Nursing Colleges, directing the referral of vacant posts in SKIMS to JKSSB and PSC.
Various healthcare projects were discussed during the meeting, including the Cancer Institute SKIMS in Srinagar, Bone and Joint Hospital in Jammu, extension of the Labour Room at SMGS Hospital in Jammu, construction of 200 bedded additional block at LD Hospital in Srinagar, operationalisation of Integrated Ayush Hospital at Harwan, and achievements under the National Health Mission and AyushmanBhav campaign.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Rajeev RaiBhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; AtalDulloo, Chief Secretary; Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance Department; Dr.Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; Dr. Syed AbidRasheed Shah, Secretary, Health; Administrative Secretaries; Principles of GMCs, HoDs, and senior officials, both in person and through virtual mode.
