Anantnag, Sep 01: In an exhilarating display of sportsmanship, the Department of Youth Services & Sports Anantnag successfully concluded a District-level Netball tournament under the Age Group of 14 years for girls at the Government Higher Secondary School Wanpoh. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 85 talented students, showcasing their prowess on the court.
Zahida Gull Nasti, the dedicated Principal of HSS Wanpoh, played an instrumental role in ensuring the smooth execution of this tournament, organized under the leadership of the District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Anantnag. Principal Zahida Gull Nasti extended her support and motivation to the young athletes, emphasizing the numerous benefits of engaging in such sports activities.
The thrilling final match saw a fierce battle between Zone Qazigund and Zone Anantnag for the coveted championship title. In the end, Zone Anantnag emerged victorious, securing the top spot, while Zone Qazigund displayed commendable sportsmanship and took the second position.
Notably, this Girls’ Netball Tournament featured participation from seven zones, with the attending students expressing their satisfaction with the excellent arrangements made by both the Department of Youth Services & Sports Officer and Principal of the Government Higher Secondary School Wanpoh. Simultaneously, Zone Shangus continued its Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament for the same Age Group, further enhancing the sports fervor in the region.
The event not only showcased the talent of the young girls but also underscored the importance of sports in promoting a healthy and competitive spirit among the youth, fostering unity and camaraderie within the community.
