Srinagar, July 27: Congress Party will organise a “PRIs/ULBs conference” in Srinagar shortly to prepare a roadmap regarding the forthcoming Panchayat and ULB elections and to devise strategies to deal with other challenges, the party said on Thursday.
The party will emerge stronger in the forthcoming elections and will ensure redressal of issues concerning people for their resolution, said J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president Vikar Rasool Wani while addressing a meeting of senior party leaders, DCC presidents and elected representatives of various districts, at Srinagar Party office on Thursday.
“Congress Party is an instrument of service to the people, it will continue to serve them (people) to the best of its capability,” Wani said.
The meeting, as per the party statement, was attended by former JKPCC president Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, former MLC G N Monga, Mohd Anwar Bhat, Abdul Gani Khan, J&K Mahila president Shameema Raina, DCC presidents, elected representatives of PRIs, ULBs, AICC/PCC members and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikar Rasool said, “During the conference, besides many issues of public importance, especially rising unemployment, lack of development, economic crisis, unprecedented price rise, and many other issues concerning people including smart meters and many other anti-people measures of BJP government will be discussed.”
The JKPCC president exhorted the party leaders and workers to get connected with the people at the grassroots and highlight their issues for resolutions, adding that Congress is an instrument of service to the people and it will serve them and safeguard their rights.
He urged the party cadres to gear up for the protests at district and block levels against the “wrong policies” of government towards the people of J&K.
