Pr Secy Culture inaugurates new reading, interaction facility at Writers Club Jammu

Jammu, Jun 16: Principal Secretary, Department of Culture, J&K, Brij Mohan Sharma on Monday inaugurated the Writers’ Reading cum Interaction space facility at the Writers Club, Jammu. The event was organised J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and witnessed the presence of several eminent writers and intellectuals from the Jammu region.
Harvinder Kaur, Secretary, Academy, Sonali Arun Gupta, Additional Secretary, Dr Javaid Rahi, Divisional Head, JKAACL Jammu, Padma Shri Prof Lalit Mangotra, and noted art historian DrLalit Gupta were in the praesidium.
In his address, Brij Mohan Sharma said the new reading- cum Interaction space facility will serve as a vital hub for writers, thinkers, and intellectuals of the region. He urged the literary community to actively use the space to enhance their literary and cultural pursuits.
Sharma further informed that Abhinav Theatre will soon be equipped with a centralised air-conditioning system, and Kala Kendra Jammu will also have air-conditioned galleries to enhance the visitor experience. He invited meaningful suggestions from writers and artists to improve the functioning of various cultural institutions under the Department of Culture.
Welcoming the guests, Harvinder Kaur highlighted that the main objective of the newly inaugurated facility is to provide a dedicated space for writers of Jammu to engage in discussions and explore emerging literary trends.
The interactive session with the Principal Secretary saw the participation and suggestions from prominent literary personalities including Prof.LalitMangotra, InderjeetKesar, Lalit Gupta, Ashok Kumar, Nirmal Vinod, Aruna Sharma, Shyam Bihari, Swarn Mala, Prof. Raj Kumar, Sheikh Mohammad Kalyan, SunitaBarhwal, Sanjeev Bhasin, Sanjay Sharma, Vijay Verma, Baljeet Singh Raina, Deepak Kumar, Harjeet Singh Uppal and others.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Sonali Arun Gupta on behalf of JKAACL.
