Srinagar, August 28: In a poignant ceremony, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, posthumously honoured Mohammad Umar Dar with the prestigious Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak.
The event, held at Raj Bhawan, witnessed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presenting the commendation, along with a heartfelt citation and a financial contribution, to Gulam Mohammad Dar, the father of the late civilian hero, Mohammad Umar Dar.
The occasion marked the recognition of Mohammad Umar Dar’s unwavering bravery. Tragically, on March 26, 2022, he and his brother Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, who served as an SPO in the J&K Police, fell victim to terrorists within the confines of their Chattabugh Budgam residence.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tributes to Mohammad Umar Dar, acknowledging his exceptional valour that ensured the safety of his family members. The ceremony also welcomed the presence of Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, GOC 15 Corps, and the esteemed family members of Mohammad Umar Dar.
