Srinagar, Feb 4: The Managing Director of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) said on Sunday out of 1118 feeders, only 36 feeders were down despite heavy snowfall.
Speaking to reporters here, MD KPDCL, Mussarat Zia, stated “there are very few feeders down, and our teams are working to restore them at the earliest. These affected feeders are in Uri, Kupwara, and Gurez, with some being inaccessible due to heavy snowfall”.
“As of now, the department is running at full load and maintaining the promised schedule. We receive updates from all 19 electric divisions, and with each passing hour, we can restore feeders,” he added
Having very few feeders down indicates a positive power situation across the Kashmir valley.
After the season’s first snowfall, all SEs of six divisions were directed to be on alert mode, and our officials, including AEEs, JEs, and field staff, have done an exceptional job.
In Srinagar, all the feeders are live and operational; there is no problem with any feeder. Occasionally, there are small faults, but they are rectified promptly.
When asked about the timeline for restoring these feeders, the MD assured their teams are actively working, and they are hopeful that all these down feeders will be activated in the shortest time. Minute-to-minute updates are being received from subdivisions across the valley.
Due to a long dry spell, KPDCL has announced additional power curtailment. However, there was no significant impact, and certain measures were taken by the corporation.
“In the last two months, KPDCL conducted around 40,000 inspections across the Kashmir Valley, leading to a significant improvement in addressing power theft,” MD said.
During these drives, several defaulters, especially those involved in meter tampering and bypassing, were taken to task. The MD added that these drives will continue in the coming time to address long-standing concerns related to power theft.
