Srinagar, Nov 08: Political leaders on Friday strongly condemned the brutal killing of two Village Defence Guards, Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, in Kishtwar district.
JKNC’s Dr Farooq Abdullah
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah strongly condemned the killings and prayed for peace to the departed souls. “Such barbaric acts of violence are a major obstacle to achieving lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. During this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased,” he said.
The party’s General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Advisor to CM Nasir Sogami, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, and senior leaders Sajad Kichloo and Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy also condemned the killings in the strongest possible terms.
BJP’s Tarun Chugh
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tarun Chugh condemned the terror attack on VDGs. “This cowardly act is not just an attack on innocent lives but also an assault on collective humanity. Such acts of terrorism must be met with unwavering resolve. We must not allow fear to dictate our lives,” he said.
Chugh said it is a slap on the face of those who support such actions and are unhappy with the peace in Jammu and Kashmir. “Security forces will crush every terror plot in Jammu and Kashmir. They are relentlessly dismantling terrorist networks to ensure public safety,” he said.
The BJP leader said those who commit such heinous crimes should face the harshest consequences. “We cannot let terrorism thrive; it must be eradicated from our society,” he added.
CPI(M)’s Tarigami
CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has condemned the killing of Village Defence Guard (VDG) members in Kishtwar yesterday.
Terming the killing as “barbaric,” Tarigami said such acts must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Such acts are bound to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the region.
While expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, he demanded adequate compensation for the affected families.
Apni Party’s Altaf Bukhari
Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari condemned the terrorist attack on VDG members in Kishtwar. “My deepest sympathies go out to the families of the two Village Defence Guards (VDGs), Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, who were abducted and shot dead by militants in the Kuntwara area of Kishtwar,” he said in a post on X.
“May the Almighty grant their loved ones the strength to endure these immense losses, and may He provide the departed souls with eternal peace. I strongly condemn this heinous act of violence—the perpetrators must be apprehended and brought to justice as soon as possible,” Bukhari added.
Apni Party’s Manjit Singh
Apni Party’s provincial president, Jammu, and former minister, S. Manjit Singh strongly condemned the brutal killing of two VDGs. In a statement issued here, Singh said, “The brutal act of the terrorists has created a situation that needs to be handled carefully to maintain peace in the region. The innocent people are being targeted to destabilize the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.”
He expressed his sympathies with the families of the VDG members and demanded that their next of kin be given government jobs. Manjit lauded the role of the VDGs in protecting their respective villages and helping the security personnel maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
