Police have seized illicit forest timber in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district and arrested an accused person involved in the commission of crime.
A Spokesperson said, “Bandipora police received a specific information regarding movement of timber smugglers. Acting swiftly, a police party led by SHO PS Hajin, laid a surprise naka at Paribal area of Hajin and a vehicle (load carrier) was intercepted. During search, illicit forest timber was recovered from said vehicle. The accused person identified as Sajad Ahmad Khwaja son of Sonaullaha Khwaja resident of Sadunara has been arrested on spot and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. He was shifted to PS where he remains in custody.”
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Hajin and investigation has been initiated.
The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold. Police have resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal & anti-social activities.
