Baramulla, July 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached properties worth Rs 41.85 lakhs belonging to drug smugglers in the North Kashmir district of Baramulla.
A police official said that Baramulla police executed the operation by confiscating an impressive array of assets from the alleged drug smuggler, Mohammad Naseer Bhatti, son of Nasar Din Bhatti, hailing from Madiyan Kamalkote.
“The seized properties included a newly constructed house valued at approximately Rs 11.46 lakhs and a Tata Sumo vehicle with registration number JK05D-3680, valued at around Rs 5.00 lakhs,” the police official said.
Police said that the attachment of these assets was carried out after obtaining legal sanction from the competent authorities, linking them to the case FIR No. 12/2023 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, as registered at the Police Station Uri.
“Investigations revealed that the said properties were allegedly raised and used for illicit drug trafficking by the accused,” the police official further said.
Furthermore, during the raid conducted at Kamalkote Uri, a substantial quantity of 1.17 kilograms of contraband Brown Sugar, along with a staggering cash amount totaling Rs 25.39 lakhs, was recovered from Mohammad Naseer Bhatti, and his accomplices Mohammad Rayaiz Khanday, son of Mohammad Shareef, Mohamad Pazeer Khanday, son of Abdul Majid, and Mohammad Fayaz Khanday, son of Mohammad Sharief, all residents of Madiyan Kamalkote.
The locals in the area have wholeheartedly praised the initiative undertaken by the Baramulla Police to curb the menace of drug trafficking.
Early on June 29, Baramulla police attached an under construction house on land measuring 10 marlas at Main Mohalla Pattan belonging to drug smuggler.
The under construction house on land measuring 10 marlas belonging to drug smuggler namely Barakat Ali Main son of Mohammad Maqbool Main, a resident of Mian Mohalla Pattan was attached after obtaining legal sanction from competent authorities.
“The said house was linked to case FIR No. 84/2023 u/s 8/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Pattan.”
