Police Seize Illegal Properties Worth Crores from Drug Peddlers in Shopian

Shopian, May 29: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, District Police Shopian, under the leadership of SSP Tanushree-IPS, attached properties worth crores belonging to notorious drug peddlers Mohammad Yaqoob Shah and Aadil Hussain Shah, both residents of Rawalpora, Shopian.

A police official said that the seizures are part of case FIR No. 69/2024 under sections 8/21-29 of the NDPS Act.

He said that the attached properties include 2 kanals of land under Survey No. 427 at Palpora, 1 kanal and 18 marlas of land under Survey No. 133 at Chowdhrigund, and a shop constructed on Aabadi Deh land measuring 240 square feet under Survey No. 532 at Hergam, District Shopian.

He said that the action was executed under sections 68-E and 68-F (1) of the NDPS Act of 1985, following thorough investigation by the Shopian Police.

The official said that the properties were identified as illegally acquired through illicit drug trafficking activities by the accused.

The local community has praised the police for their proactive measures in combating drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.
