Police seize four vehicles involved in illegal transportation of mineral

  Srinagar, Sep 23: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, J&K Police have intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the Police district Handwara and has seized four tractors involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals. According to a statement issued here, Police teams of Police Post Langat, Police Post Chogul and Police post Zachaldara headed by supervisory officers seized four involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals. Subsequently, proceedings under the provisions of the (MMDR Act) have been initiated and further investigation is in progress. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood. Police assure strict action against the violators as per law.
