Police seize 8 quintals of illegally procured rice in Budgam, 04 accused arrested

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said to have seized 8 quintals of illegally procured rice and arrested four accused in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A Police spokesperson said, “Today Budgam Police foiled a black marketing attempt by seizing 800Kg of rice meant for government ration depots.

During Naka checking at Arath Crossing, Police party of Police Post Soibugh intercepted a load carrier bearing Chassis Number (*BBXWRC 66797 Chasis )with three persons on board.”

“During preliminary questioning they disclosed their identities as Nisar Ahmad Lone S/O Ab Rashid Lone R/O Singapora Pattan, Ab Qayoom Bhat S/O Sonaullah Bhat R/O Singhpora Pattan, Ab Majid wani S/O Ghulam Rasool wani R/O Arath Budgam”, he said.

He said that during search of said vehicle, Police party recovered 16 Sacks containing 50Kg of rice each. During initial questioning it surfaced that they had bought the rice from a fair Shop at Arath which is run by one *Gh. Nabi wani S/O Ghulam Rasool wani R/O Arath Budgam. All the 4 accused were arrested and the vehicle used in commission of Crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No 41/2024 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been taken up.
