The police said on Thursday they have provided a helping hand to one pregnant lady stranded at Shenni Pora area of Khansahib and 34 tourists as they have been stuck between Raiyar and Yarikhah Doodpathri roads due to sudden snowfall in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An officer of the police said the police station in Khansahib had received a distress call that one lady from the Shenni Pora area of Khansahib had developed labour issues while pregnant and needed to be shifted to the SDH Hospital in Khansahib immediately, but that was impossible due to snowfall and the slippery conditions of the road. They are not able to deliver patients to hospitals.

“A police team from Police Station Khansahib was deputed, and the lady was brought to SDH Hospital Khansahib safely,” an official said.

He said that another distress call was also received by Police Station Khansahib, indicating that some tourists were stuck at Raiyar while travelling in their vehicles due to sudden snowfall.

He added that the police party of Police Station Khansahib facilitated their journey up to Yarikhah, and 34 tourists were provided with necessary assistance and help, and after that they travelled safely into their vehicles.

Dr. Irshad Ahmad from the Sub District Hospital Khansahib told the Rising Kashmir that the pregnant lady that was brought to the hospital by the police was admitted to the hospital. She has also given birth to a baby in the hospital.
