Ganderbal, Nov 14: SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar on Tuesday inaugurated a Football Tournament at Qamariya Stadium Ganderbal as part of the Civic Action Program.
Eight football teams/clubs from various areas within the district will actively participate in this tournament, showcasing the immense enthusiasm and talent among the local players, a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
He said the selection process involved a Lucky Draw Series, finalizing the participation of eight teams. They expressed gratitude to the J&K Police for organizing this event.
The opening match featured Ganderbal Heroes FC against Shalbugh Football Community, with Shalbugh Football Community securing victory with a score of 2:1. Aadil’s exceptional performance earned him the title of Man of the Match.
In his inaugural address, SSP Ganderbal extended his appreciation to both teams, emphasizing the importance of sports in allowing young minds to explore creativity and imagination. He urged players to exhibit good sportsmanship, discipline, and positive behavior towards each other.
Ganderbal Police’s initiative to organize diverse sports events, including Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Cultural, and other Co-curricular activities, serves as a platform for community development and youth engagement. The primary objective is to promote brotherhood, love, and peace while steering the youth away from the menace of drug addiction.
The event saw the presence of other dignitaries, including Addl. SP Ganderbal, Malik Aijaz-JKPS, DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, Gh Hassan, and other senior officers from the police and civil administration, further highlighting the collaborative effort in community-oriented initiatives.
