Srinagar, July 14: As part of the public outreach initiative, Police in Shopian have organised an awareness-cum-interaction programme at Chotipora area of Shopian.
A statement issued here said that the event was graced by SSP Shopian, Anayat Ali Chowdhary. During the programme, SSP interacted with the local populace, patiently listened to their grievances and assured them that all genuine issues related to the Police will be redressed on priority. Matters concerning other departments will be taken up with the concerned authorities for timely resolution.
On the occasion, SSP Shopian also created awareness among general public regarding newly introduced laws and government schemes for the welfare of the general public. The officers educated the attendees about their legal rights, the importance of timely reporting of crimes, and various measures to ensure women’s safety. The public, especially women participants, were sensitized about helplines and mechanisms in place to address issues related to harassment, domestic violence, and cyber safety. ASP Shopian, DySP Hqrs Shopian, SHO Police Station Heerpora and other officers-officials were also present during the event. The general public was requested to extend full cooperation to Police in maintaining law and order and in identifying Anti-National and Anti-Social elements active in the region. The local residents expressed appreciation for the efforts of J&K Police in conducting such community-oriented programmes, stating that these initiatives play a vital role in bridging the gap between Police and the public and contribute to a safer and better society.
