Police nab kingpin of Rohingya women trafficking racket in Bandipora

Bandipora, Nov 28: Bandipora police have arrested the main operator behind the illegal trafficking of Rohingya women in the district, senior Superintendent of Bandipora Lakshay Vinod Sharma said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference here at Police station Hajin, SSP said that on 23 November , an information was received by Police station Hajin from reliable sources regarding illegal trafficking of Rohingya women and subsequently selling them to various people in the area in lieu of money.
A preliminary enquiry was initiated into this matter and during the preliminary enquiry, five persons including Manzoor Alam son of Mohammad Aleyas resident of Burma at present Narwal Jammu and one lady were found involved in this illegal trafficking, SSP said adding that accordingly on 27 November, a formal FIR was registered in Police Station Hajin against these five accused persons.
He said that during the course of investigation, two Rohingya victims (name with held) were rescued and one more accused person was arrested in the instant case along with one vehicle.
SSP further said that one Rohingya person namely Usman was illegally trafficking Rohingya women through Bangladesh to India.
Another Rohingya person namely Manzoor Alam used to receive these trafficked victims at Jammu and pass them on to one lady at Qamerwari Srinagar, who used to sell these women to various customers through different agents in lieu of money in lakhs, he added.
The investigation of the instant case is going on and more recoveries are expected, he concluded.
