Bandipora, Oct 03: The police in Bandipora organized an interactive and educational visit for students from Elixer Garden School, Aloosa, and SMS Islamia Model High School, Garoora. The students toured the Police Station Bandipora and Police Station Aragam to gain firsthand insight into police operations and foster positive community relations.
During the visit, students received a detailed overview of the police department’s roles, including crime prevention, investigations, and community outreach initiatives. A key highlight was an engaging role-playing exercise, where one student was assigned the role of SHO (Station House Officer) to experience the responsibilities and challenges faced by police leadership. Other students participated in various policing roles, actively engaging in activities to better understand different aspects of law enforcement work.
Station House Officers personally accompanied the students, providing explanations and guiding them through each activity. The students participated in traffic management simulations, learned enforcement procedures, and observed police station operations, including record-keeping, lock-up functions, and investigation processes. They practiced directing traffic, ensuring road safety, and conducting market inspections to maintain order and public safety.
This initiative aimed to demystify police work, promote a better understanding of law enforcement roles among youth, and encourage them to consider careers in policing. It also aimed to strengthen trust and cooperation between the police and the community.
The students expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to learn about police functions firsthand.
